Shloka of the day Monday, 3 August 2026

One Sanskrit verse a day from the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, the Vedas, subhashitas and well-known stotras, with transliteration and meaning. 132 verses in rotation.

Vishnu Sahasranama (closing verses)

śrīrāma rāma rāmeti rame rāme manorame |

sahasranāma tattulyaṃ rāmanāma varānane ||

Meaning

Chanting “Shri Rama, Rama, Rama” I delight in Rama, O fair one; the name of Rama equals the thousand names. (Shiva to Parvati.)

The meaning is our own short paraphrase, not a word-for-word translation.
