Shloka of the day

Shloka of the day Wednesday, 23 September 2026

One Sanskrit verse a day from the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, the Vedas, subhashitas and well-known stotras, with transliteration and meaning. 132 verses in rotation.

Bhagavad Gita 6.19

yathā dīpo nivātastho neṅgate sopamā smṛtā |

yogino yatacittasya yuñjato yogamātmanaḥ ||

Meaning

As a lamp in a windless place does not flicker: that is the image of the disciplined mind of a yogi absorbed in meditation.

The meaning is our own short paraphrase, not a word-for-word translation.
