Shloka of the day

Shloka of the day Wednesday, 1 July 2026

One Sanskrit verse a day from the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, the Vedas, subhashitas and well-known stotras, with transliteration and meaning. 132 verses in rotation.

Manusmriti 3.56

yatra nāryastu pūjyante ramante tatra devatāḥ |

yatraitāstu na pūjyante sarvāstatrāphalāḥ kriyāḥ ||

Meaning

Where women are honoured, the gods rejoice; where they are not honoured, every rite is fruitless.

The meaning is our own short paraphrase, not a word-for-word translation.
