How the date is determined

It recurs every lunar month on Shukla Paksha Trayodashi.
It falls on the day when this tithi prevails during Pradosh Kaal — the first fifth of the night after sunset.
If the tithi prevails at that time on two consecutive days, the day on which it covers more of that period is taken.
If the tithi does not touch that period on any day (a kshaya tithi), the Hindu day on which the tithi prevails longest is used.

Traditional variation

This is the date given by the rule shown above for the selected place. It is not the only valid date: regional Panchangs, family customs and sampradayas may observe it on a different day.

Rule source: Pradosh vrat of the Shukla paksha. Trayodashi in the Pradosh (sunset + a fifth of the night), the tithi-kaal rule of the Dharmashastra digests. One evening: that day. Part of both evenings' Pradosh: the greater part. The whole Pradosh of both evenings (e.g. 21 and 22 May 2047 at New Delhi): the longer Pradosh, that is the longer night, seconds apart; a tie-break of the platform's own, no authority cited. Neither evening (e.g. Trayodashi from 20:37 on 29 Jan to 17:29 on 30 Jan 2022 at New Delhi): the Hindu day on which Trayodashi prevails longest, the platform's general fallback, no authority cited. Rashtriya Panchang (Government of India almanac) daily pages, Saka 1948: 23 of its 24 Pradosh days of 2026-27 are this rule's days at its central station, including the two-evening months 28 Apr 2026 and 5 Jan 2027.

Traditions may vary by region and Panchang convention. Times are shown for the selected place, time zone and calculation profile.
