तमोऽरिं सर्वपापघ्नं प्रणतोऽस्मि दिवाकरम् ॥tamo'riṃ sarvapāpaghnaṃ praṇato'smi divākaram ||

I bow to Surya, the maker of day — red as the japa (hibiscus) flower, son of Kashyapa, of great radiance, enemy of darkness, destroyer of all wrongdoing.

दधिशङ्खतुषाराभं क्षीरोदार्णवसम्भवम् ।dadhiśaṅkhatuṣārābhaṃ kṣīrodārṇavasambhavam |
नमामि शशिनं सोमं शम्भोर्मुकुटभूषणम् ॥namāmi śaśinaṃ somaṃ śambhormukuṭabhūṣaṇam ||

I bow to Soma, the Moon — white as curd, conch and snow, born from the ocean of milk, the ornament on Shambhu's crown.

धरणीगर्भसम्भूतं विद्युत्कान्तिसमप्रभम् ।dharaṇīgarbhasambhūtaṃ vidyutkāntisamaprabham |
कुमारं शक्तिहस्तं तं मङ्गलं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥kumāraṃ śaktihastaṃ taṃ maṅgalaṃ praṇamāmyaham ||

प्रियङ्गुकलिकाश्यामं रूपेणाप्रतिमं बुधम् ।priyaṅgukalikāśyāmaṃ rūpeṇāpratimaṃ budham |
सौम्यं सौम्यगुणोपेतं तं बुधं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥saumyaṃ saumyaguṇopetaṃ taṃ budhaṃ praṇamāmyaham ||

I bow to Budha — dark as the priyangu bud, of matchless form, gentle and of gentle qualities.

देवानां च ऋषीणां च गुरुं काञ्चनसन्निभम् ।devānāṃ ca ṛṣīṇāṃ ca guruṃ kāñcanasannibham |
बुद्धिभूतं त्रिलोकेशं तं नमामि बृहस्पतिम् ॥buddhibhūtaṃ trilokeśaṃ taṃ namāmi bṛhaspatim ||

सर्वशास्त्रप्रवक्तारं भार्गवं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥sarvaśāstrapravaktāraṃ bhārgavaṃ praṇamāmyaham ||

I bow to Bhargava (Shukra) — white as snow, jasmine and lotus fibre, the great teacher of the daityas, expounder of all sciences.

नीलाञ्जनसमाभासं रविपुत्रं यमाग्रजम् ।nīlāñjanasamābhāsaṃ raviputraṃ yamāgrajam |
छायामार्तण्डसम्भूतं तं नमामि शनैश्चरम् ॥chāyāmārtaṇḍasambhūtaṃ taṃ namāmi śanaiścaram ||

अर्धकायं महावीर्यं चन्द्रादित्यविमर्दनम् ।ardhakāyaṃ mahāvīryaṃ candrādityavimardanam |
सिंहिकागर्भसम्भूतं तं राहुं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥siṃhikāgarbhasambhūtaṃ taṃ rāhuṃ praṇamāmyaham ||

I bow to Rahu — half-bodied, of great valour, who afflicts the Moon and Sun, born of Simhika.

पलाशपुष्पसङ्काशं तारकाग्रहमस्तकम् ।palāśapuṣpasaṅkāśaṃ tārakāgrahamastakam |
रौद्रं रौद्रात्मकं घोरं तं केतुं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥raudraṃ raudrātmakaṃ ghoraṃ taṃ ketuṃ praṇamāmyaham ||

I bow to Ketu — red as the palasha flower, head of the stars and grahas, fierce and terrible.
ఫలశ్రుతి
इति व्यासमुखोद्गीतं यः पठेत्सुसमाहितः ।iti vyāsamukhodgītaṃ yaḥ paṭhetsusamāhitaḥ |
दिवा वा यदि वा रात्रौ विघ्नशान्तिर्भविष्यति ॥divā vā yadi vā rātrau vighnaśāntirbhaviṣyati ||

Thus sung by Vyasa: whoever recites it with a collected mind, by day or by night, will find obstacles pacified (the text's traditional statement of benefit).
