Accuracy report: our dates against official lists
Each year we compare the festival dates of this site with the official lists of the Government of India and the State Governments and with the Rashtriya Panchang, and our sunrise, sunset and Moon phases with the U.S. Naval Observatory. Every difference is listed with its reason.

How the comparison is made
The official lists are transcribed by hand from the published documents (each tied to its file's checksum) and stored with the site's code; they are never adjusted to match our results. Our dates come from the same engine and default calculation profile as every page of the site.
A different date is not necessarily an error. Most differences come from a documented convention:
- Udaya tithi: many official lists take the tithi prevailing at sunrise, while the texts decide some festivals by the tithi at another part of the day.
- Vyapini rules: festivals such as Diwali (Pradosh), Janmashtami (midnight) or Navami are fixed by the tithi present at a particular time; when two days qualify, traditions choose differently.
- Regional rules: a state may follow its own solar or lunar calendar, month system (amanta or purnimanta) or local custom.
- Administrative dates: a government may keep a holiday on a fixed or convenient day.
The reason shown for each difference is the note recorded with the reference data (in English). A difference without a recorded reason is marked as not yet explained and reviewed.
This report shows how our calculated dates compare with these references; it is not a claim that any calendar is the only correct one. Traditions may vary.
