From Parashara's natural planetary relationships (Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra ch. 3), read from the number in the first column. Rahu (4) and Ketu (7) have none in BPHS: only Cheiro's pairing 4–1 and 7–2 is used and every other pair with 4 or 7 is neutral. Authors' tables differ.
Method and sources
- Chaldean letter values (Cheiro, “Cheiro's Book of Numbers”, 1926): 1 A I J Q Y · 2 B K R · 3 C G L S · 4 D M T · 5 E H N X · 6 U V W · 7 O Z · 8 F P. No letter has 9.
- Pythagorean letter values: A–I are 1–9, J–R are 1–9, S–Z are 1–8.
- The letter values are added (the compound number) and the digits added again until one digit remains.
- Moolank: the day of birth reduced to one digit. Bhagyank: all digits of the date of birth reduced to one digit.
- Friendly, neutral and enemy numbers: the natural relationships of the ruling planets (1 Sun, 2 Moon, 3 Jupiter, 4 Rahu, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 7 Ketu, 8 Saturn, 9 Mars) in BPHS ch. 3.
